How do you add music file to iPhone without resynching?

djbennett999 :
Music files on iPhone are greyed out in iTunes. How can I drag one music file to iPhone without having to resync all music files? I'm using original iPhone.

italian.scallion :
The only way you can individually manage songs is to click "manually manage songs and videos" on the device page when you plug it in. I believe this will remove all songs and videos from your iPhone, so you have to re-load what you want onto your iPhone, but from then on, management is really easy. I recently made this switch because I had more music than would fit on my iPhone if I wanted all my videos on there too. The re-sync process (which isn't really complete syncing, since you're dragging and dropping what you want on your iPhone) doesn't take terribly long - you could just set it to go when you go to bed and then it'll surely be done when you get up in the morning, and then you can remove/add items as you please.

You can't you mange the ipone in itune by syncing.. the iphone is not a independant device it is a slavve device to the itunes you are using..

IPOD?IPHONE 101:-

The ipod is designed to work with and be the slave to itunes on the computer to which its paired.

If you do not pair a ipod to a computer you cannot alter its settings.

If you pair your ipod to a new computer it overwrites what's on it.

Simply dragging music onto an ipod does NOT make that music playable it then acts as hard disk. To make the music playable you MUST use itunes to sync with it as only itunes can put the music files in the correct file names (not the same as on the computer) in hidden folders and create the hidden indexes for them to be playable.

When you pair the ipod to a computer it erases ALL the previous library and tracks and replaces it with what the current computer want it to.

if you want to erase the ipod you select RESTORE form the ipod's tab in itunes then it re formats and re installs the ipods firmware resetting everything to default values and removing the lock (except for the touch which asks for the code to allow this)

the ipod needing a master player to sync with is NOT unique to apple Creative, Zune, Sony al have one of one sort or another.

guerita :
if they are greyed out it means the computer or phone is authorized using a different itunes account than the account the song "belongs" to. you can drag and drop music by checking the manually manage option in the summary screen, but this will erase the music on the phone

JmaNジェイ :
IF you check "manage files manually" or something like that then you can drag and drop anything

josephnation@ymail.com :
I don't think you can.
